WHAT IS DAZZLING MELANGE?
You have them. We all do. In a dusty shoebox underneath the bed, pushed in the back of a drawer---small treasures we don’t know what to do with---that we can’t bear to part with. They could be barely-worn baby shoes, a rhinestone brooch from a favorite aunt, old black and white photos or knick-knacks from vacations past. From this scenario, assemblage artist Leanne DuPay has developed Dazzling Mélange, a new company out of Austin where treasured trinkets and vintage ornaments are used to make one-of-a-kind art for any room in the house.
“I create a collage of beautiful colors, textures and memories,” she says. “People are always amazed at the finished piece---there is so much to look at, layers and layers of delightful details.” It takes her hours to construct one piece, making sure it’s balanced, the colors are spread evenly and that there are enough antique or vintage items in each to make it truly unique. “I have a work room packed with vintage items I have picked up at flea markets and thrift shops. From old millinery flowers to china figures and baby socks, I can work anything in!”

WHO IS THIS INNOVATIVE ARTIST?
Leanne DuPay has always been artistic, has always loved shopping for antiques and has always loved beautiful things. Put these traits together and you have the formula for her Dazzling Mélange creations. After deciding to change her college major from graphic arts to communications, her career has found her holding positions as a magazine editor, freelance feature writer, PR executive, country music promoter, and most recently a marketing manager with Disney.
Now back in her home state of Texas, she is focusing on finishing a degree in Interior Design, watching her son grow and traveling with her husband. “I will always need a creative outlet---and right now Dazzling Mélange combines all of my passions. Every time I finish a piece, I can’t help but marvel at the detail and sparkle. Everyone needs one---in every room!”
